Carson City, Nev. – Longtime Carson City resident, mother, community leader, and proven public servant Stacy Woodbury today announced her candidacy for Nevada State Assembly District 40.
Woodbury, who has called Carson City home since 1996, has raised her three children in northern Nevada while volunteering with schools, church groups, youth sports, and local nonprofits. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and the Western Nevada College Foundation, and was recognized as one of Carson City’s Women of Distinction in 2025.
“I am running for the State Assembly because I believe in the people of Carson City and northern Nevada,” Woodbury said. “This community has given me so much, and now I am ready to give back. I will bring trusted, common-sense leadership to the Assembly and work every day to make Nevada stronger for our families, our businesses, and our future.”
Woodbury’s career spans both public service and the private sector. She began her Nevada service at the Legislative Counsel Bureau before moving into senior leadership roles, including Deputy Chief of Staff in the Governor’s office, Deputy Secretary of State, Chief of Administration for the Nevada Gaming Control Board, and Executive Director of the Nevada Commission on Ethics. She also owned and operated her own small business and now works in corporate public affairs in northern Nevada.
As she prepares to retire from her business career in 2027, Woodbury has committed to serving full-time as Assembly District 40’s representative. Her campaign will focus on strengthening families, supporting local businesses, and ensuring accountability and transparency in state government.
Assembly District 40 includes Carson City, Washoe Valley, Virginia City, Hidden Valley, Gold Hill, and the Virginia City Highlands.
A campaign kickoff event will be announced in the near future. For more information about Stacy Woodbury’s campaign, visit www.StacyWoodbury.com.
